Telehealth (Online Consultations)

All about our online professional services

We are now offering Telehealth (online) consultations at Foot Ankle Lower Limb. This is both convenient and also complies with recent Coronavirus-related guidelines on minimising in-person meetings and unnecessary visits to business premises. We have been doing this with remote patients for a while, but we are now offering it to everybody.

All you need is your phone, tablet or computer, an internet connection and to be in a quiet place for 20-40 minutes. We use several different platforms, including some that you may already use. For example:

  • Your mobile phone

  • Zoom

  • Skype

We also use Physitrack, where we can demonstrate and prescribe stretching and exercise programs right in front of you during the consultation.

What sort of consultations can we offer online?

You might think that you need to see our podiatrists, exercise physiologists or podiatric surgeon in person to get treated. This is not always the case (think for example of how often you see the GP without them having to give you a physical examination). Some of the things we do via online consultations include:

  • Foot and leg pain

  • Foot deformities, such as bunions and hammertoes

  • Injury advice and management

  • Footwear and training advice

  • Prescribing and reviewing exercise, stretching and rehabilitation programmes

  • Post-surgery reviews

  • 2nd opinions

And much more...

We can order x-rays or other tests online in order to further assess your problem. Frequently, when we first see you (either in person, or online) we spend our time finding out about your issues are, discussing a possible diagnosis, and formulating a plan to find out more and how we are going to manage your case. All of this can be done online. Of course, if we are going to need to see you in person, then we will arrange that too.

How does it all work?

The whole process is similar to an in-person consultation as our office. Here are the steps:

  • You book an appointment either online or by phoning us on 9316 3010.

  • We organise an online payment

  • You fill in one or more secure online forms which provide us with basic information, your medical history, and what you would like to talk to us about

  • You may have previous reports, x-rays and other documents, which you can send to us via email or uploading the files to us directly

  • We will send you information confirming the time and date of the consultation, what software we will be using, and any other details you need

That's it!

Is it different to an in-office consultation?

Not really. You still get the undivided attention of one of our professionals in the same way as you would if you came to see us, with the convenience of not actually having to come to see us! The same level of care and professional standards apply.

If you have any more questions, then please feel free to contact us, either via email, our online chat facility or call us on 9316 3010.
